IPL Thread Vein Removal at CMB Medispa, Plymouth

Why do Thread Veins occur?

Red veins, often referred to as thread veins or spider veins, can occur due to a weakness in the skin.

Exposure to harsh weather and stress can contribute to their appearance with common areas of concern being spider veins on the face and legs. Hereditary factors sometimes play a part and thread veins can also be caused by injury, smoking, spicy food, alcohol and simply getting older!

Thread veins or dilated capillaries on the nose are also known to form as a result of blowing the nose frequently due to colds or hay fever.     Complete removal of many unsightly spider or thread veins can in many cases be achieved during a course of IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) treatments, and in others dramatic improvements can be made.

Come for a personal consultation and I will fully and honestly explain the expected outcome from any vein treatment to you.

How can IPL remove Thread Veins?

IPL stands for Intense Pulsed Light. I use the latest IPL technology from AW3® - their Flash Combo Machine.  The IPL device looks a bit like a probe and it has different settings which can be customised according to the specific skin concern being treated and to the type of skin. The IPL device is used to deliver light onto your skin in "pulses". In the case of thread veins, the pulses of light are targeted directly onto the veins in the area that needs treating. This heats the blood vessels and causes them to shrink and disappear.

Will it be painful?

What you'll feel is a mild stinging sensation as each pulse of light hits the targeted area. It's a bit like a rubber band being flicked against your skin and in no way unbearable! And don't forget, IPL treatments are totally non-invasive.     The IPL device is used to deliver light onto your skin in "pulses".
